New Features in Windows Server 2012 R2

There are some interesting and exciting new features in Windows Server 2012 R2.

I’d like to see the new “Work Folders” feature which essentially sounds like a corporate DropBox/SkyDrive enabling data synchronistion across devices with encryption and remote wipe facilities, this helps the business traveller work on docs whilst being off-net such as plane journeys.

Hyper-V is getting even more features which look set to continually keep it at the forefront of virtualisation, I’m looking forward to trying the 30 second replication and extended replication.

Other features catching my eye are the de-duplication of VHDxs whilst improving performance, the extended resource metering and IPAM support virtualised environments.

It’s great being in SMB world being able to utilise these features as and when they become available.
